A Fond Farewell to the Ultimate Blog Challenge

Saying Goodbye!

What a powerful experience this month of blogging has been. I hope it has been as wonderful for you as it has for me.

Getting to know all of you wonderful bloggers, reading your posts, talking with you about moon rituals and your own shared wisdom has been deeply meaningful to me. This go-round with the Ultimate Blog Challenge has been one of the best I have experienced!

I think one of the best things about it was written into the structure. Michelle's idea to have us post to a comment thread and then comment on the two people above us was a brilliant idea. This is the first UBC experience I've had with that system in place and it worked beautifully (for the most part).

Of course, I almost always visited more than 2 blogs and that's how I got to know so many of you.

I look forward to doing it again this summer.

See you then!

The Waning Gibbous Moon

The Waning Gibbous Moon

This moon phase is a great time for reflecting on what you've done this month. Now that you have raised the energy for creating the changes you want or manifesting the intention you chose, is there anything you need to let go of in order to fully integrate that change?

Is there any lingering grief or release that's needed from the work you did earlier in the month? If so, then this is the time to identify those issues and prepare for letting them go during the next moon phase, the third quarter moon, later this week

Have a great day!

Using a Magic Wand to Supercharge Your Full Moon Ritual

Using a Magic Wand During Your Full Moon Ritual

Five things you can do with a crystal or wooden wand for a full moon ritual or any healing or magical purpose…

(1) Point it at yourself, or others, for healing.

(2) Create a circle of power and protection around yourself before beginning your moon rituals.

(3) Draw circles, spirals or other symbols into the air in your energy field to raise energy before beginning your moon ritual.

(4) Point it at the ground to reduce and ground the energy you raised during the moon ritual.

(5) Point it at your crystal elixirs and crystal layouts to supercharge them.

The wooden wand and the faerie wands above are wands I made and/or embellished and you’ll see that they actually have crystals glued to them, including a crystal labradorite wand glued to the wooden wand.

Have a great weekend!

How to Create Exactly What You Want Using the Full Moon

The Full Moon

Welcome to the full moon!

This phase is the most magical and powerful moon phase for creating, for healing, and for manifesting your intentions. So this is the moment to give it all you've got. And because you have dealt with whatever was blocking you, all of your energy can be directed at this intention.

"The three days of the full moon -- the day of, the day before and the day after -- can be used to boost any intention or project. This phase represents achievement, culmination and abundance. The world is filled with energy and potential, and it's a great time for healing work and manifestation." ~~Lucy Cavendish and Serene Conneeley

These steps, minus the addition to follow the moon phases, are the steps you can use during this full moon to manifest what you want...

(1) Get clear about your intention: I've got helpful ways to do that here and here.

(2) Create ritual: using the process I have suggested here and here and here.

(3) Use magical tools: whatever you have or can acquire quickly will do.

Crystals: in crystal elixirs or crystal layouts

Essential oils: in smudge sprays or healing sprays for use during ritual

Whatever else you've got

(4) Heal everything you can think of that might be in the way: if you haven't done this already, during the first quarter moon phase, then fold it in to your full moon work

(5) During the ritual and for the next day or so: visualize the results you want.

What are your plans for this powerful full moon?

Have a great day!

Wishcasting Wednesday: May the Healing Continue

Wishcasting Wednesday

Each Wednesday, Jamie suggests that we make wishes and she offers a prompt to help us do so. If we post our answers on our own blogs, we can link up to the wishcasting party on her website.

This week's prompt is where do you wish for healing? And Jamie asks that we hold her family in her thoughts this week as they have had some difficult news.

My personal wish for healing is for my tummy, which has been mad at me for a while. Hope we can make up and be friends again soon. :)

Of course, as I mentioned in last week's post, my thoughts and wishes are still with the people of Boston as they continue to heal from all that has happened. The shock and trauma, the losses, the pain, etc. And our nation is bruised and grieving as well, as a result.

Intuitive Guidance: Preparing for the Full Moon

Intuitive Guidance

During this phase of the moon, leading up to the full moon later this week, you may want to focus your time and intention on intuitive guidance. Finding out anything else that needs to be folded into your full moon work. What still needs tweaking? Or a dose of deep healing?

Intuitive Reading

"We all desire to know where our footsteps will fall next, long for the assurance that decisions we have made are for the very best and yearn to know that things will get better. When we connect with intuitive guidance, we are connecting with the divine flow of universal energy." ~~Lucy Cavendish

Having someone give you an intuitive reading or doing one for yourself is a great way to find out what you need to know. After journaling about whatever the reading tells you, consider how to use that information during the full moon later this week.

You also may want to prepare in advance, by creating a healing crystal elixir or a crystal layout.

Dreamwork

Another great way to ask for guidance is to request it of your dreams. Place a pen and notepad or journal near your bed tonight and just as you are drifting off to sleep, ask to dream about anything else that needs healing, or needs to be included in your full moon work this week.

When you wake up, write down anything you remember about your dreams, even if you only remember a tidbit or two. Tell your dreams to yourself in story form, and after writing it all out, notice the words you used to describe what happened.

Are there any metaphors or descriptive phrases or sentences you used that in the light of day might mean more than they did during your dream?

For instance, if, in your dream, you fell asleep while at work, is there an area of your life in which you are sleeping on the job? Or if in the dream, something that happened made you worry about how you would get to the ______ (whatever), is there a fear that you won't be able to get where you need to go in your waking life?

Take the insights you develop from your dream analysis and use them in your full moon work this week.

Have a great day!

Know the "Rules" but Follow Your Intuition

Know the "Rules" but Follow Your Intuition

A fair amount of planning goes into choosing an intention and creating your moon work around it during a moon cycle. And there's a beautiful order that governs what you do and when so that you can fully connect with the energy of each phase.

But there may be times when your intuition suggests doing things a little differently. When that happens, even when you don't know why, follow your intuition.

Here's a small example from my own life...

During the moon cycle I am in now (at the time of this writing), I created my crystal elixir, and let it sit overnight before the 1st day of the new moon. But I felt like it needed another night on the windowsill. I didn't know why, but I decided to listen to those promptings and put it out for another night of moonlight.

The next day, inexplicably, I waited instead of pouring it right away into the bottle I planned to use to store the elixir. I just knew I needed to wait so I put it on my altar and waited.

Within an hour or two, it rained. Pouring! And my son and I had a blast running outside to catch some of it so we could use it in the elixir.

Had I done things the way I normally would, the crystals would have been out of the glass and into a layout, and the elixir would have been bottled already.

What's in the bottle you see here is what we had left after sharing it...

So listen to that inner voice even if you aren't sure why your intuition is leading you the way it is.

Have a great day!

The Waxing Gibbous Moon

The Waxing Gibbous Moon

Today is a good day to continue doing First Quarter Moon work, so if you created a crystal layout, keep it going. And I often split my first quarter work into two days of ritual, so I lessen the intensity for each day but still am actively involved in the healing work for both days.

Tomorrow is the day to begin doing the work of the waxing gibbous moon phase, but since I am taking weekends off, I thought I'd share it with you today.

During the Waxing Gibbous Moon Phase, the moon is half full. And so is the energy available to us. This is a great time to access intuitive guidance about what else needs to be a part of your work this month.

Are there any issues you forgot that could get in your way? Or that you are, as yet, unaware of, that intuitive guidance could reveal? Any memories that need to be healed so you can completely let them go? Pay attention to your dreams and keep your journal handy.

Have a great weekend!

The First Quarter Moon

The First Quarter Moon

Today is this moon cycle's First Quarter Moon...

During this moon phase, you identify the fears and blocks that might be holding you back or that might get in the way of manifesting your intention.

What are the fears, the limiting beliefs, and the unhealed memories that, so far, have blocked you from creating this intention and bringing it to life? What's in your way?

Now is the time to deal with it!

The steps are simple. The process ~ maybe not so much...

(1) Identify the Blocks: use journaling, reflection, meditation or intuitive guidance to identify the fears and blocks that are in your way.

(2) Resolve Them: create a ritual, and/or use healing techniques, prayer, crystal elixirs or crystal layouts and other resources to help you resolve these blocks while this moon energy is available to do so.

Crystals you might use for letting go of fear and replacing it with safety and security:

smoky quartz
garnet
bloodstone

Essential oils you could use: lavender, sandalwood or patchouli.

I have a vanilla-and-patchouli blend I got from Sage Goddess that I used today and it felt wonderful as soon as I put it on the bottom of my feet.

Your healing process will clear the way for a more powerful full moon experience because your energy and focus will be undiluted.

Have you already begun to identify possible blocks as you read this post? Wishing you the best as you work to resolve them.

Have a great day!

Wishcasting Wednesday: A Wish for Healing

Wishcasting Wednesday

Each Wednesday, Jamie suggests that we make wishes and she offers a prompt to help us do so. If we post our answers on our own blogs, we can link up to the wishcasting party on her website.

This week's prompt is how do you wish to lighten up?

And my wish this week is for all the wounded, physically or otherwise, after this week's Boston marathon tragedy. My wish is to lighten the load of grief we all are now carrying by sending healing and loving energy and comfort.

For myself, I have worked on grounding and centering and my wish is to hold onto hope and faith in light of what happened. We all lose innocence and safety, whether we are directly affected or not, and that's what I wish to recover for myself.

What about you?

 Wishing you love this week!

Using Moon Phases for Health & Tranquility: A Reader Request

Moon Phases for Health & Tranquility

In a comment on yesterday's post, Eyenie Schultz from LucidMusing, asked for advice about working with the moon phases for health and tranquility.

Health

With any focus on health or illness, your goal is to target the underlying issues whenever possible. What has the illness meant in your life? What might be the payoff in keeping it?

If the moon is waxing, work on creating better health; if it is waning, banish illness. For instance, during the first quarter moon, coming up this week on Thursday, you can identify what might be keeping you stuck where a health problem is concerned and create a ritual designed to help you break through those blocks.

Clear quartz crystal is a good all-purpose intensifier and a great choice in general for any intention you want to use it for, and other crystals could be chosen based on the specific health issue you're targeting.

Tranquility

What a great goal to take through each moon phase!

Starting with setting your intention during the new moon phase, nurturing it during the waxing crescent moon phase, taking a look at what might be in the way during the first quarter moon phase and then dedicating it to the full moon and the phases that follow. You could create a ritual at each phase, or do journaling and crystal layouts, saving the ritual for the full moon.

Crystals you might use: amethyst, angelite, rose quartz, moonstone, blue calcite, selenite, desert jasper, blue lace agate, blue chalcedony and there are plenty of others.

Have a great day!

The Waxing Crescent Moon

The Waxing Crescent Moon

Time for a new moon phase!!

Now that you have created an intention ritual for the new moon and followed that up with a couple of days of sharing your crystals with the moonlight, it's time to shift into the next phase.

As the energy builds, slowly and inexorably, toward the full moon, this phase is a good time to gather ideas to identify what is needed to bring the intention to fruition. What will it take to make this dream come true?

This moon phase is a great time for research and planning. For brainstorming and generating a list of possibilities.

But it also might be a time of beginning to realize that in order to make that dream come true, you will have to let go of whatever has been blocking you. Either way, this is a good time to begin to take stock and consider what is needed.

What would have to happen to make your dream come true?

Have a great day!

Facing Down a Mountain of Resistance

So, in yesterday's post, I admitted that when the time came to gear up for this month's new moon work, I just did not feel like doing it. But today, I can happily report that I am back in the game for this month.

Climbing Resistance Mountain

(1) First, I ate an impressive amount of white cheddar popcorn. There may have been a few cookies, too. (Don't judge)

(2) Then I grabbed my "take back your power" elixir and my "find your voice" elixir, and after using them, I put them on the windowsill, surrounded by a circle of carnelian, which, itself, was surrounded by double-terminated clear quartz crystal.

(I have rough ones, too, but I used large tumbled ones, like these)

(3) I did a quick ritual that included prayer, my wand, my desert jasper and a lot of compassion for myself. I realized that I had had a dream recently that foreshadowed this resistance.

And I remembered feeling so intimidated by what I understood of its meaning, that I just sort of left it for later. Looked like later had turned into now, LOL! It was one of my driving the car dreams, and was about all sorts of things going wrong after I got behind the wheel.

For me, in addition to whatever else makes the particular dream unique, it comes down to trusting myself and feeling safe.

(4) I decided to make 2 crystal elixirs, one I would call Safe and another for the actual moon wish I am going to work on this month. I would work on trust and safety first and then, create the 2nd elixir.

(5) I also did an intuitive reading to get some extra insight into the problem, and a healing ritual and meditation.

(6) It all worked, and really helped. But the work will continue this month, and I will see how it goes. At each phase, I'll check in with myself and see which adjustments I might need to make to keep things on course.

But meanwhile, have a look at the crystal layout I finally created!

Dealing with Resistance

My encouragement for anyone dealing with resistance is to lean into it, and try to figure out what your inner child needs, or what the inner fear is about, and then, address that in your ritual or moon work. Put the other work on hold, if you need to, until you're ready. You've got nothing but time, right?

How do you usually handle resistance after you've set a goal or intention?

See you tomorrow!

My Confession: Resistance & What to Do about It

How I Conquered My Own Resistance

This is the absolutely true story about how when the time came to start my new moon work, I did not want to do it. At all. The most apathy I've felt around moon work in years. What happened?

Well, this month's goal is a "go big or go home" kind of thing. Being all in! Going all out. And when the time came, I just couldn't seem to generate any energy around it.

Here's what happened...

Nothing Much Going On

So, it's Tuesday night. And I know that tomorrow, the new moon will be here, ready for my intention for this cycle. Normally, I would feel excited. And I've waited all day for the excitement to hit me.

By now, I would usually have a crystal elixir sitting on the windowsill. Crystals? Meh.

But why? What the heck is going on?

I am sure it is resistance. Some part of me is saying, "this moon wish is too big and too scary! What if you feel? You won't fail if you don't try!"

Oh boy! I've heard that voice before.

Okay, then. That means that what I need to do is create a blend that addresses the fear and resistance. Maybe some letting go crystals, too?

Stay tuned. Later tonight, in part two of this resistance extravaganza, I'll tell you more about how I rescued my own new moon extravaganza!

See you then!

Creating a Crystal Layout

Using Your Crystal Elixir

This post is a sort of part two, connected to my post about creating a new moon ritual. In that post, I tell you how to create a crystal elixir to use as part of your new moon ritual.

Once you've created it, for the next couple of days in the new moon phase, continue to use the moon-and-crystal-charged elixir you created. Splash it on your self, anoint your wrists, heart space, third eye.

Crystal elixirs are very powerful, so you should notice a difference in the way you feel each time you use it.

Should you drink it? Some people do, and if you are planning to do that, I would keep it in the refrigerator. But I also would have run the crystals in hot water before using them to create the crystal elixir. I, personally, don't drink them. But that's up to you!

Creating a Crystal Grid or Crystal Layout

And, if you want, use those charged crystals (from the elixir) in a layout that also will empower your intention. If you can place it near a window (or outside?), where it will catch the moonlight for the next few days, even better.

(An abundance layout I created)

How you create the layout might depend on what your intention is. A circle, with a clear quartz crystal in the middle is always good. But if your intention was to attract love into your life, you might create a heart, instead. If it’s money, maybe a dollar sign or an infinity sign.

Once you’ve created the layout, you can place your written intention under the center crystal or keep it on your windowsill if you’d prefer.

Have a wonderful day!

Choose Your Own New Moon Meditation!

New Moon Meditation

One way to intensify your new moon experience during this moon cycle is to create a visualization or meditation moment for yourself wherein you launch yourself into your future when your new moon intention is a dream come true. Take five minutes tonight, tomorrow and the next day to practice living your intention.

Now, in order to create a new reality, you really only need 7 seconds of concentrated positive focus on this dream you want to come true. A few minutes of meditation will give you that 7 seconds of creation over and over again.

But keep in mind that it will work best and happen most easily if you honor the way that works best for you.

(1) Do you need to see it unfold before your eyes in a series of miracle scenes or a silent movie?

(2) Or do you need to hear an inner voice tell you the story of how your dream came true?

(3) Maybe, instead, you just need to feel it happening in your body? The joy, the peace, the rightness of it all when it finally happens?

(4) Or it might be that you are good at just knowing things and that intuitive knowledge comes to you pretty quickly. Even faster than you can set up a meditation scene?

If so, then just relax deeply and have the intention that you will know whatever you need to about the way your intention will manifest.

And whichever way you choose, be sure to take enough time to relax deeply and ground yourself.

Breathe deep into your belly several times before you begin. And when you have completed the new moon meditation, ground yourself again by focusing on the floor beneath your feet, the back of the seat you're sitting in, the sounds in your room and other sensations available.

Let me know how it goes!

Next post: creating a crystal layout as part of your new moon ritual.

See you tomorrow!

Enchanted Ritual: The Power of Music

"Song is life itself. Our voice carries the breath, and song carries the pure note of the spirit, a message from the soul, uniting the outer world with all that dwells within us. Song carries story, tale and meaning, and notes that can literally part the walls between worlds, and heal broken hearts and torn spirits." Lucy Cavendish and Serene Conneeley

The Power of Music in Healing Ritual

I am always most drawn to using music during the letting go moon phase, but it could be used during any moon phase and bring story and power, enchantment and magic to your ritual.

One month, I needed to let go of something I didn't even remember. It was intuitively guided information, a soul story about grief and loss during two possible alternate lives.

I say possible because it doesn't really matter to me if they happened just as I am uncovering in the soul story or not. What matters is that my soul served up this story to me and asked me to respond. So I do. I trust myself.

Letting Go of Grief

So I had two stories of grief and loss and wanted to release them during ritual, and I did feel a little sadness. Kind of like an echo rather than the sound, itself. But it was hard to connect deeply without fully remembering.

So I used this song, and it worked beautifully...

How might you use music in your own rituals?

Later tonight, I'll tell you how to use meditation as part of your new moon ritual. And tomorrow, I'll talk about how to continue the new moon work with a crystal layout.

Have a wonderful day!

My Wishes: What I Want to Tend...

(1) This blog, and in particular, the UBC blog challenge I am participating in this month. I am really enjoyed getting to know the bloggers involved.

(2) My new moon wish this month and all that I will be doing to make it come true (crystal elixirs, crystal layouts, moon rituals, etc.)

New Moon Ritual

Welcome to the New Moon

This phase is the one for creating something new! For setting your intention and consecrating it by offering it to the new moon.

Crystal Elixir

What I often do is create a crystal elixir designed to empower my intention. For instance, when it’s time to work on letting go, I use a base of crystals that are good for letting go (like apache tears, smoky quartz, black tourmaline, danburite, etc.) and then add crystals specific to what it is I am letting go of that month. If I am working on adding something or my intention is to empower something, I use crystals related to that issue.

One month, I created a Goddess Love elixir that I still have on my altar. I also sometimes I create a smudge spray made with the same basic potion and then I use that to clear the air whenever that is needed.

If you decide to make a crystal power potion, you want to create it the day before you will use it, so you can leave it on the windowsill overnight to charge it.

How to Make a Crystal Elixir

(1) Start with identifying the crystals that correspond to your intention, gather them together, along with a double-terminated clear quartz crystal to supercharge the potion, and place them in the glass you plan to use.

(2) Pour filtered water into the glass, and charge it with reiki symbols, your wand, a prayer, etc.

(3) Place the glass on your windowsill, cover it with a paper towel and let it sit overnight to soak up the moon’s light and/or energy.

(4)The next day, pour the moon-and-crystal-charged water into the container you want to keep it in and label it, so you’ll remember what’s in there. Sometimes I will keep put one of the crystals in the container, often the clear quartz crystal.

New Moon Ritual

This ritual can be quick and simple: you splash some of the water on your hands, clasp your hands together and state your intention. Or more elaborate...

(1) Clear the energy with a smudge spray or a crystal wand.

(2) Light a candle while thinking about your intention.

(3) State your intention. You also can say a prayer for your intention and call in any "outside" help you'd like to include.

(4) Anoint yourself with the water. Start with your heart space and your third eye and then, anywhere you feel led to anoint.

(5) Hold some of those crystals in your hand and visualize your intention coming to life.

(6) Use a healing technique or pray to heal anything that needs to heal in order for it to manifest.

(7) Close with a statement of faith that what you want is being created already and is on its way to you.

(8) Blow out the candle.

(9) Clear the energy again.

What about music? Tomorrow, I'll talk about adding music to your ritual and then, we can look at crystal layouts to extend the healing and magic of the ritual.

Have you chosen your new moon intention yet?

See you tomorrow!

Have a wonderful day!

New Moon, New Name?

I just found out from fellow UBC blogger, Deb Dutilh, that today, April 9th is National Change Your Name Day. How cool that it is so close to the new moon.

You only get to try it out for a day, but what a fun "new moon" toy to play with, don't you think?

"April 9 is National Name Yourself Day, a day to let your creativity soar and have whatever name you desire. For comical relief, change ‘mom’ to THAT LADY. Rapper Eminem referred to himself in a song as Slim Shady. It was his alter-ego, though not so nice. While you’re at the name-changing game, change your birth name too, even if you have liked it all these years. Involve your children and let them change theirs. Make a fun lesson out of it." ~~Examiner.com

I'm playing with Anna River Moonstone today! :)

ETA: By daylight, I had changed my mind to Anna Jane Moonstone. And I am considering it as a pen name. What do you think?

Which name will you choose?

Have a great day!

Anna Jane
