Which Path Are You On?

Which Path Are You On?

In yesterday's post, we talked about the hero's/heroine's journey and took a look at what often happens within those kinds of tales of growth and development.

Near the beginning of a typical hero’s journey, there’s a choice between a lower path and a higher path.

Most of us wander onto or actively choose the lower path first and then, sometimes reluctantly, accept the call to a higher path.

Has that been true in your own life? Which path are you on right now?

Brief (One-Minute) Meditation

Ask your heart and your higher self to show you how those 2 paths have shown up again and again in your life. The answers may come to you in images, memories, movies you’ve seen, song lyrics.

So give it time and if symbols do show up as answers, give yourself time to tease out their meaning. Be open and don’t judge anything that comes. Just write it down in your journal.

Artwork Idea

Create a collage or draw a picture that represents you on each path. Words, images and anything else that comes to mind. Then look at each path and write down the thoughts and feelings that come up for you.

Journal Questions

(1) What are you ready to let go of from the lower path that no longer serves you?

(2) What would you like to bring into your life once you let it go?

Have a great day!

    1. The middle is good! It's a step up, anyway. So the next question would be about what the higher path would look like for you and what might be a next step to help you get to that path.

    1. Thanks, Marie! How wonderful that you've journaled for a long time. I have, too, off and on, but I went year without before I realized a couple of years ago how much I missed it.

  4. I have to admit that, at this point, I don't journal. I have, however, been seriously considering it. Great article.

    1. Thanks, Stacey! Well, you can still ponder the questions even if you don't write down your answers.

  5. Hi Anna Jeannie,
I finally made it to your site and I am from UBC. So good to meet you. Your post is so perfect and beneficial. Each person needs to sit back, relax and think about what you are saying. What path are you on? I like the high path, makes my life so much lighter and happier. To me, its the only path to take to my mountain top.
    Thanks again,

  7. Insightful questions. I've been pondering them for a bit - and have come up with some answers. I like the idea of creating a collage of images that depict my two paths.

Hope to see more of you over at UBC,

    Eydie :)

    1. Thank you, Eydie!! I'm glad you've both pondered and answered. And a collage would be a great way to ground those answers and support them. You could even look at them every day for a week or so and see what comes of that.

Thanks so much for coming to visit and sharing your thoughts! Let me know where you are and I'll come say hello at your place next.

By the way, I know that sometimes my readers disagree with what I say here and I wanted to let you know that not only is it okay with me if you happen to as well, but you also are welcome to tell me so, as long as you do so kindly.

Have a great day!
