Faerietale Happiness Challenge: The Happiness Setpoint

Today, I want to tell you about a day that started out as a challenge day. When I woke up, I felt completely flattened!! And not just tired but kinda out of motivation for the day ahead.

So while my son and I ate breakfast, before homeschooling, before getting to work on the computer, we watched a couple of the TV shows we had saved on the DVR. I drank some vanilla tea, we got to hang out and talk, and we had a great time.

And even though there have been a few stressful moments after that, it was as if the good moments created a happiness setpoint for the day and because of that, I would still give it an overall simple happiness rating of 8 out of 10.

So I am realizing that I really need to pay a lot more attention to the way I start my day. Not just what can I get done or check off my to-do list, but what would make me feel happy before the rush begins?

What would create that kind of happiness setpoint for you?

  1. The way I start my day is also really important to me! If I wake up to the dogs barking, rushing to get the cat fed, etc etc, I notice it sets a stressful tone for the rest of the day. My goal is to always wake up before the everyone else in the house and enjoy a cup of coffee, alone, on the back patio.

    1. Jacqueline, that sounds wonderful! That quite moment alone. I find I need moments alone, too, as I am coming to life again for another day.

  2. How you start your day usually determines how your whole day will be. I'm always upbeat and in a good mood before I start. Thanks for the reminder!

  4. It's quite hard to find stress free zones. I think my garden is a good place!

Thanks so much for coming to visit and sharing your thoughts! Let me know where you are and I'll come say hello at your place next.

By the way, I know that sometimes my readers disagree with what I say here and I wanted to let you know that not only is it okay with me if you happen to as well, but you also are welcome to tell me so, as long as you do so kindly.

Have a great day!
