Identify Your Theology: Twelfth Question

Identify Your Theology:
Number Twelve

In yesterday's post, I asked you if you are a mystic or have had mystical experiences.

Today, let's move on to the next question, but before we do, head on over to your retreat room so you can relax and let go of any of the day’s stress.

Today’s Question
What do you believe about our connection to the physical world? (trees, the ocean, birds, etc.) Is it possible to communicate with it or have a relationship of some kind?

"Nature forms such an important focus of their reverence, that whatever beliefs they hold about Deity, all Druids sense Nature as divine or sacred. Every part of nature is sensed as part of the great web of life, with no one creature or aspect of it having supremacy over any other. Unlike religions that are anthropocentric, believing humanity occupies a central role in the scheme of life, this conception is systemic and holistic, and sees humankind as just one part of the wider family of life." ~Druidry.org

"Mitakuye Oyasin (All Are Related) is phrase in the Lakota language. It reflects the world view of Interconnectedness held by the Lakota people. The phrase itself, and the underlying belief of interconnectedness with all creation, is a part of many Yankton Sioux prayers, and is found in use among Lakota, Dakota and Nakota people. The phrase translates as 'all my relatives,' 'we are all related,' or 'all my relations.' It is a prayer of oneness and harmony with all forms of life: other people, animals, birds, insects, trees and plants, and even rocks, rivers, mountains and valleys." ~Wikipedia.org

Journal Questions

Now that you’ve read today’s question and a quote or two to get you thinking, head on back into the mini-retreat to close it and to see the journal questions and the blessing I’ve written for you.

What have you got planned for the weekend? I'm taking the weekends off but will see you back here on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

whatever is blocking you from the life that's waiting for you.

  1. I do believe we have a connection to this earth... as an energy practitioner, that's something I make sure of with my clients - the integrity of their connection with this earth. Lovely post!

    1. Thanks, Loretta!! Hmm, that's intriguing. I like the idea of using that connection as part of a healing practice.

  2. I feel like when we "tune in" to the earth and the other life forms on it we create greater depth to our lives. When the relationship is out of balance it's when "bad things" happen (quakes, oil spills, etc). I think personally tho, when we are aware of our connections to other life forms we as humans grow spiritually.

    1. I quite agree, Crystal, that tuning in creates greater depth! And spiritual growth. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  3. To be honest, I've never thought about any of this before. I'll stay tuned to see what I can understand.
You have a great weekend too!

    1. Thanks, Ann-Marie! Some of these questions were new for me, too, when I first encountered them (and they definitely were for my son, as part of his homeschooling this year) but like you, that just made me want to think about it all to see what I might come to understand.

  5. This is my favourite question so far (and you know how much I'm loving them all!)

I believe we all have a connection to the physical world - some of us are just more aware of it than others. I moved out of the city to a rural area because I'm fully aware of my need to connect with the physical world. I garden and feed the birds/animals because my soul has to. I have to see the green grass, feel the breeze and actively live with the seasons and the earth to feel whole and happy and content.

Thanks so much for coming to visit and sharing your thoughts! Let me know where you are and I'll come say hello at your place next.

By the way, I know that sometimes my readers disagree with what I say here and I wanted to let you know that not only is it okay with me if you happen to as well, but you also are welcome to tell me so, as long as you do so kindly.

Have a great day!
